Using EndNote to help you upload your publications to RGMS

Did you know that you can use EndNote to help you update your publications list in NHMRC's Research Grants Management System (RGMS)?

Using EndNote's export feature you can quickly prepare XML files of your publications, ready for you to upload to RGMS:
  1. Open the EndNote library containing your publications
  2. RGMS does not deduplicate your publications for you so you need to check what publications you've already uploaded to RGMS before you upload more (run a "Snapshot" in RGMS to check).
  3. If you haven't uploaded any publications to RGMS, check for duplicates in your EndNote library or selected folder within your library  - select your publications and go to "References" > "Find Duplicates"
  4. RGMS requires that you upload book/book chapters separately from journal articles - in EndNote, sort your publications by "Reference Type"
  5. Select the book/book chapters you want to upload
  6. Go to "File" > "Export..."
  7. Select a destination for the file to save to, give the file a name, and choose "XML" from the "Save as type" menu.
  8. Repeat for journal articles
Now you have 2 (or 1 if you have one type of publication) XML files, ready for you to import into RGMS.
